Bush Blitz Strategic Taxonomy Grants Scheme


APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2012-13 BUSH BLITZ CAPACITY-BUILDING GRANTS ARE NOW CLOSED.


EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR THE 2010-11 TACTICAL TAXONOMY CONTRACTS WILL OPEN IN EARLY 2012.

A key component of Bush Blitz is taxonomy, based primarily on material collected during Bush Blitz surveys. The Bush Blitz Strategic Taxonomy Grants Scheme supports the naming and description of species, the resolution of problematic groups among Australia's flora and fauna and offers assistance toward training of PhD. students.

Applicants must familiarise themselves with the following conditions:

  • Bush Blitz Grants must be consistent with the ABRS Priority Areas for Research Grants , in particular Priority Area 1: Biodiversity, Conservation and Vulnerable and Endangered Species. A primary aim of Grants is to support Priority Area 3: Building Taxonomic Capacity.
  • Applications must specify what existing or yet-to-be-collected Bush Blitz material will be studied. Material currently in collections may also be used in Bush Blitz taxonomy projects.
  • The proposed study must target specified Bush Blitz the Core Taxa or Institutional Priority Taxa.
  • All grant recipients must report to ABRS on the progress of their study. Failure to submit a report by the due dates may result in cancellation of the grant and future funding.
